South Weymouth edges Cranston in dramatic fashion, 5-4!

     The fans of the South Weymouth ten year old All Stars, whoe have grown accustomed to heart-stopping tight games, were treated to another dramatic finish by the Eastern Massachusetts Champions.  In dramatic fashion, South Weymouth received back to back doubles (Neal Vitello and Jason Davern) in the bottom of the sixth inning and advanced to the Loser's Bracket Semi-Finals with a 5-4 victory over Cranston, Rhode Island.

     In the bottom of the first inning, South Weymouth jumped out to a 3-0 lead on two errors, one walk (Neal Vitello), and a double by Alex Rosario.

     In the top of the second inning, Cranston cut the lead to 3-1 when Christian Martinelli (reached on an error) scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Julien Martinelli.

     South Weymouth moved ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning on a single by Eric Keefe and a r.b.i. double by Alex Rosario. 

     After a 45 minute delay because of a torrential downpour, Cranston tied the game up in the top of the fifth inning on two errors and two hits (Gersham Rainone and Matt Sweeney). 

     Offensively, South Weymouth was led by Eric Keefe (1 for 3, two runs scored), Alex Rosario (1 for 3, one double and one run scored), Brian Urmano (2 for 3, one double, one run scored, and 2 r.b.i.'s), Neal Vitello (double), Jason Davern (game winning double), Matt Long (1 for 2, one double).

     Cranston was lead by Nathan Blanco (1 for 3, one run scored), Matt O'Rourke (one run scored), Gersham Rainone (2 for 4, one run scored), Christian Martinelli (one run scored), Matt Sweeney (2 for 3), and David Cushman (1 for 2, one double).
